The biggest and most prestigious night in the AAT calendar was recently held in Birmingham where AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) unveiled the winners of the Training Awards 2016 which had over 600 nominations across 13 categories.
And we are so thrilled and proud to announce that we won two awards, and in the areas closest to our hearts!
First we were awarded with the Best use of E-learning Award, which we are particularly pleased with as we believe our VLC (Virtual Learning Campus really is the most fantastic learning platform to ensure Students succeed on, with the ability to study online, on any device, wherever and whenever suits them.
Our VLC is filled with a huge range of resources and engaging content and we make sure our course materials cater to all learning styles to give all our students the best chance of success. The campus holds videos, interactive quizzes, live online classes- with Tutor and peer interaction, case studies, E-books, practice tests, online chat box for Tutor contact, student forums, plus our Career Management Hub offers students recent industry news, CV advice, interview simulators, expert video tips and recruitment help.
Secondly, one of our AAT Students, Tom Brinsley, was awarded the AAT Distance Learner of the Year Award. Tom, age 20, has shown exceptional dedication to his studies whilst also juggling an exciting, yet demanding job as Business Analytics Executive at Nestle.
Just to give an idea of his commitment, he leaves for his 5 hour-round daily commute to Nestle Headquarters at 6am and arrives home at 8pm! Tom fits his studies in during his commute and at weekends. Due to Tom’s dedication to his profession and work ethic, his company has agreed to fund the rest of Tom’s AAT studies (just Level 4 left to study) which he aims to finish next year when he will begin the path to Chartered Status (no rest for Tom!).
“I feel so overwhelmed and honoured to have won this award. Studying my AAT qualification has changed my life. It is awfully hard to be both ambitious and successful yet not want to follow an academic, further education path but studying towards my AAT qualification has unlocked so many career paths that were previously locked to me. If it wasn’t for the opportunities offered by AAT, I would not be able to follow my dreams and have belief that I will achieve the accounting career I have set my heart on.The flexibility that the VLC offers is perfect for me. By having recorded material I can essentially take a lesson as many times as I need to in order to have perfect clarity. I needed a way of studying that wouldn’t impact my career in a negative way and studying online means I can study whenever suits me best.” Tom’s impressive course work, combined with a clearly demanding job, is completely inspiring.
What a night!
