CIPD and AVADO are delighted to congratulate our L&D graduate, Melissa Venner, who was awarded the Michael Kelly Outstanding Student Award 2017 by the judges of the People Management Awards and described as an “outstanding ambassador for people development.” |
The annual CIPD People Management Awards took place on 26th September 2017, with almost 1,000 HR and L&D Professionals brought together at Grosvenor House, London to celebrate achievements in the industry.
The Michael Kelly Award is high competitive, the judges are: “looking for an exceptional individual who is currently studying or has recently completed a recognised CIPD intermediate and foundation level qualification. Successful applications will demonstrate how their studies have enabled them to initiate and implement business improvements in their own organisation.”
Melissa took on the challenge of diversifying and expanding Liquid Personnel’s L&D offering in order to address a rising staff attrition, by boosting engagement through development opportunities.
Melissa used the knowledge and skills from her CIPD L&D Intermediate programme with AVADO in her role – she had only joined the L&D profession three months before the project start date, so what she learnt on the course was invaluable. Her year-long project at Liquid Personnel brought impressive results, including a decrease in staff attrition of 18%.
Melissa’s tutor, Deborah Fairbotham, was a huge support to her on the course and was so impressed by her final assignment video, she suggested that Melissa enter the Outstanding Student award.
The judges described Melissa “an outstanding ambassador for people development”. Melissa said “When they called my name, I just couldn’t believe it was me! I’m so happy.” Congratulations Melissa!
